Does anyone ever listen?!

A few days ago, my class did presentations on problems that people are facing everyday in their lives. Some people did their projects on drugs, teenage pregnancy, bullying, etc...
But I highly doubt that half of the class got anything out of it. The presentations were good, and people did put a lot of thought into it, but I think that the only information and facts that people allowed to flow into their minds, were their own projects that they researched themselves. To everyone else, it was just a school presentation: Pretend to look interested, applaud when the project is over, and then move onto the next class, your thoughts on hanging out after school, or on the latest phone that came out. Nobody really gets too much out of it. I must admit that even I sometimes just forget about all of the other presentations in class, my thoughts on what I'm going to do when I get home. Answer: Write, watch TV, go online, and then write again.
I have decided to put more effort into paying attention in class, because before a few days ago, I never knew all of the circumstances and consequences there are in problems that people have to face every day. My opinion is, even though you are bored of everything going on, (maybe even reading this post), you should pay attention to the world around you. It couldn't hurt, and it's not like your going to die listening to someone's presentation in English class. You may have to fight the urge to fall asleep, but at least have the decency to listen, and take into consideration some of the other stuff that's going on in the world besides the newest cell phone or video game or something.
